The load-out of the offshore high voltage substation „Borkum-West II“ was carried out by using a skidding system. Each of the four skidding tracks were divided in two sections: one on board the transport pontoon and the other ashore. For the alignment of both sections in very tight tolerances, it became necessary to adjust the pontoon alongside at the berth as precise as even possible. To solve this we designed fenders on the quayside which could be easily adjusted in their thickness. This gave us the opportunity to set the longitudinal direction of the pontoon in accurate alignment with the skidding tracks ashore.
